California Pizza Kitchen is probably the most inventive and original Pizza Bakers out there. The toppings that you can get on your pizza are like no others – from my personal favorite, the Greek (which basically has all of my favorite ingredients from a Greek Salad, chilled, on top of a warm pizza) to the Tostada Pizza, to the Thai Chicken Pizza. They taste nothing, yet everything like Pizza all at once. And the best part of CPK is that they stand by their originality – they encourage you to try something new, and if you don’t like it, they’ll gladly replace it with your old favorite.
CPK has just released a new menu, the Small Cravings, that allows you to try more things on their menu in smaller portions. Somewhat like tapas, you can order several things and have amazing variation in your meal! Ranging from $4-$7 each, they have 7 choices, including Asparagus and Arugula Salad, Buffalo Chicken, Sweet Corn Tamale Ravioli, Crispy Artichoke Hearts, Mediterranean Plate, The Wedge Salad, and White Corn Guacamole and Chips.
My husband and I chose three to try out.
I couldn’t wait to try the White Corn Guacamole – I adore fresh guacamole. My husband isn’t a fan, so I knew I’d have it all to myself – but I was wrong. He tried it and loved it too!!
The corn in the guacamole gives it an unbeatable texture and sweetness that even he couldn’t resist.
He chose the Buffalo Chicken and loved them – the buffalo sauce was thick and not at all runny.
They were spicy, but not too spicy for my sensitive tastes to enjoy as well.
Our third choice was the Mediterranean plate.
Since I’m Greek and my favorite Pizza is The Greek, we knew we’d love it. And we were right – one of our favorite things about CPK is their “Pillowy Pita Bread”, as we call it – it is so thick and soft and tasty. When paired with their amazing hummus and Mediterranean Salad, it is divine.
The Small Cravings Menu has just added more facets of enjoyability to the California Pizza Kitchen experience! …And more tough decisions, because everything I’ve ever had there is fantastic!!

At our house we’re vegetarians and like CPK for its meatless options.
We especially enjoy the Vegetarian Pizza with Japanese Eggplant. Also’
there’s a CPK not very far from our house. We can call ahead and by the
time we drive there they have our order ready to bring out to our car.
