The Harlem Globetrotters – Family fun for 84 years!

This past weekend my family and I were able to attend one of the most entertaining events I’ve been to in quite some time — The Harlem Globetrotters!!!

I never had the chance to see the Harlem Globetrotters when I was a kid but, of course, knew who they were from seeing them on other tv shows and was recently cheering for Flight Time and Big Easy on last season’s “Amazing Race”.

Needless to say, I was more than excited to finally see them in person and to share the experience with my family.

The Harlem Globetrotters have been thrilling audiences for 84 years. EIGHTY-FOUR YEARS!!! They have played for everyone from Presidents to Popes. In 2009 the Globetrotteres even went on tour playing at U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

Regardless of who they are playing for, the heart of the Globetrotters is, and has always been, their fans. That is so evident from the minute you walk into a stadium during one of their games. From pre-game to post-game, every minute is about entertaining their fans. Music, dancing, comedy, pulling kids out on the court during plays — you will be laughing, cheering, and wondering what could possibly happen next!

Yes, the Globetrotters are entertaining but they are also amazing basketball players! Their skills are something I have never seen before! I’ve seen players dunk a basketball and spin a ball on their finger, but the Harlem Globetrotters take it to a whole new level! I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a man dunk a basketball by launching off of another player after being passed the ball by a different player who bounced it off his head!!! Until now, that is. And the speed at which they do things — AMAZING!

I would highly recommend attending a Harlem Globetrotters game with your family if they are playing in your area. You can view their 2010 North American tour schedule online at www.HarlemGlobetrotters.com. Tickets are very affordable and the show is perfect for “kids” of all ages!

When you do purchase your Harlem Globetrotters tickets use the code HGMOM to receive $7 off each ticket!!! (Discount is not valid on VIP or courtside tickets, is valid with online ticket purchase only, and is valid until the day before the show.)

I really hope you are able to take advantage of this amazing and affordable family entertainment if the Globetrotters are in your area this year! You won’t regret it and your kids are going to LOVE IT!!!

To help bring the fun and excitement of the Harlem Globetrotters to your home we are giving away one Harlem Globetrotter prize package! This package includes a Harlem Globetrotter mini-basketball, authentic Globetrotter wristbands, an autographed Harlem Globetrotter team photo, and a 2010 game program!!!

To enter, simply leave us a comment telling us if you have ever seen the Globetrotters play and, if you have, share with us a fun memory you have from that game! Make sure you leave your comment by Friday, February 5!

As always, you can earn even more entries: subscribe to our Feed, sign up for our 5M4M Newsletter, add our 5M4Giveaways button in your sidebar, write a post and link back to this contest on your blog, and spread the word via Twitter or email! Please see our site’s Terms and Conditions of Use for a complete list of our contest and giveaway rules.

And don’t forget to check out www.HarlemGlobetrotters.com for information on the team (past and present), game dates, player blogs, and more!

FYI, I did receive complimentary game tickets for my family so that I could personally attend a Harlem Globetrotters game and provide you with an accurate and honest review of the event.

I think we went to see them when I was a little kid, but I can’t remember for sure.

BUT, I did have a French class in college with one of their players! Well, I don’t think he’s on the team anymore, but he was for several years. Poor thing never spoke a lick of French, though the teacher never stopped trying to get him to try. lol!

I have never seen the Globetrotters but my husband took the younger 3 kids to see them 2 years ago. (I was not well enough to go). It was SO much fun listening to them all try to talk when they got home!!! THey could not say enough about how FUNNY it was. Now the younger 2 are in basketball, so they would even appreciate it more. I would love to go with them if I could. I see they are in town JUST before my son’s 13th birthday in April, so that would make SUCH a memorable celebration for him. thank you SO much and to the Globetrotter’s sponsors for bringing some fun and wonder to some lucky kids.

My parents took my sister and I to see them several times when we were kids. This was in the 70′s when the stars were Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal, Goose etc. We always had fun and looked forward to the confetti in the water bucket gag which never got old when we were small.
