I have a confession to make, I LOVE greeting cards. Once upon a time, I used to spend hours, and I mean hours, finding the perfect cards for my friends and loved ones.
But as my days have gotten busier and my to-do lists longer, I have found that I no longer take the time to show my friends and loved ones I care through beautiful and perfectly worded greeting cards.
If I ran to my mailbox and found a greeting card from a friend nestled in with the bills and advertisements, it would make my day! So, why don’t I just take 5 Minutes, sit down with THE perfect card, add a personal touch, send it off to someone I care about, and make their day? Hmmm…maybe I should start a new weekly tradition, and scatter some joy.
American Greetings has a new Scatter Joy collection of greeting cards by artist Kathy Davis. They are simply beautiful!
I received a preview of the cards, and had a difficult time narrowing down which friends and family members to send them off to. There was one in particular that I almost kept for myself to post on my fridge, because it was just THAT cheery, uplifting and joyful.
Kathy Davis is a former teacher turned entrepreneur who, with a simple two word philosophy — Scatter Joy — has become a leading artist and one of the world’s leading greeting card designers. Davis, who hopes to spark a “Scatter Joy” movement as successful as the “Practice Random Acts of Kindness” movement of the 80’s, thinks the time is right: Americans are seeking comfort in simple things like family, friends and spirituality.
The Scatter Joy Philosophy
“Whether you meditate on an inspiring word or quote each morning or bring fresh cut flowers to the office, finding ways to bring joy into your life and into the lives of others is a rewarding deed,” said Davis. “The scatter joy philosophy is all about finding your own inspiration and then sharing it with everyone around you and encouraging them to do the same, creating a positive ripple effect.”

At www.scatterjoy.com, you can upload inspirational videos, stories and photos. Kathy Davis’ blog is the place to go to find inspiration, as she shares joy through art, living and giving.

I’m part of a group that has named it’s self the “Snail Mail Fun” (SMF) group. We send each other hard mail with little suprises and small gifts at various times throughout the year and then we chat about our daily lives through an online bulletin post.
