Watch your child become a published author with Tikatok

Written by Stacey

Growing-up my mom had a box where she kept the things my siblings and I created for her. Along the years some of that stuff got thrown away, some she passed on to me, and still some she keeps packed in an old box. As my daughters enter those "creative" years I often wonder — What am I going to do with all of that stuff?

It doesn't feel right to throw it away but, at the same time, my house is only so big and I can't imagine hanging on to every picture they draw or story they write, no matter how cute!

Tikatok has come up with a solution that I absolutely love, and I think you'll love it too!

Tikatok is an online book creator! That means there is no software to install on your computer. Simply create your story right on the website, upload your drawings or photos, and then select how many copies you want!

It really is that easy and the possibilities are endless — publish the story your child wrote this year in school, make a book showcasing the stack of drawings your little artist made, or publish one of those stories you wrote in grade school! And don't forget to order extra copies because you know grandma is going to want a copy, too!

I took the opportunity to create a book out of the little story I wrote right after my daughter was born. Getting started was a breeze! If you are still brainstorming your story, you can choose from one of the many topic ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Or, if you already have your story written, choose to start a blank book. From there you simply upload and add images and enter the text. You can scan in the artwork your child created, use photos, or even send your images to Tikatok and they will upload them for you!

My favorite part about the Tikatok books is how professional they are! The printing is beautifully done and the books are offered in both hardcover and paperback. The books include a page where the author can write a dedication and even an "about the author" page!

You can even share your book online. Here is the book I made:

I was so impressed with Tikatok that I will definitely be using them to preserve my kids' artwork and stories. No more artwork boxes and file folders cluttering up my house!

Tikatok would like to get you started creating your child's book by giving away a $25 gift card to one 5 Minutes for Giveaways reader! To enter, simply leave a comment on this post by Friday, May 22. One winner will be announced Saturday, May 23. This contest is open to both US and Canadian shipping addresses.

What a wonderful idea. I wish they had it in the 80's when my daughter was growing up. Luckily we can use it for my granddaughter. We need to wait until she has a few more words in her vocabulary.
