Grow Your Garden & Help Fight Hunger With GroGood!

Are you ready for Spring? Umm, yes please! Is your lawn ready for Spring? Well, not exactly. It is no secret, my lawn needs help! And, with plans of a flower garden and a vegetable garden, I will be stocking up on various Scotts® products.

From lawns to gardens to indoor plants, Scotts® is there to help! What’s on my shopping list for the Spring? Definitely Scotts® Clasic Sun & Shade Mix to give me a new, luscious green lawn, some Miracle-Gro® Shake ‘n Feed for the flowers, and, of course, Miracle-Gro® Garden Soil to start off my vegetable garden!

Not only will Scotts® be helping me grow my lawn and garden this year, but they are committed to helping feed the hungry people in our communities! Through their GroGood program, Scotts® will be donating over 1 million pounds of fresh produce to food banks nationwide. ONE MILLION POUNDS!

But what if we could turn that 1 Million pounds into TWO? Scotts® GroGood is challenging you and me to help donate another million pounds of fresh produce to our local food banks this summer! I am so excited to do my part in combating hunger in my area by joining the GroGood campaign!

Did you know that 1 in 8 Americans will be going to bed hungry tonight?

That isn’t just a number! Those are people in your city! Those are people in your neighborhood! Scotts® GroGood is asking you to plant a little extra in your garden this year and donate that extra harvest to a local food bank! It’s that easy. Maybe you could plant an extra row. Maybe you could double the size of your garden!!!

So, go ahead. Dig in. Get your hands dirty. And help fight hunger in your community. “GroGood will only succeed 1 person at a time, 1 garden at a time, 1 row at a time!”

To help you get your garden started we are giving away a Scotts® GroGood garden starter kit! This kit includes: a Smith and Hawken planter box, 3 Smith and Hawken gardening tools, knee pad, small bronze watering can, gardening gloves, Scotts® Miracle-Gro® product (food and soil), AND a vegetable seed kit. To enter, simply comment on this post by Friday, April 10. One winner (US addresses only please) will be announced on Saturday, April 11.

As always, don’t forget to earn more entries: subscribe to our Feed, sign up for our 5M4M Newsletter, add our 5M4Giveaways button in your sidebar, write a post and link back to this contest on your blog, and spread the word via Facebook, Twitter, or email! We don’t have the room for a regular garden or funds to have a larger container garden, but we already planned that the what excess we might have will go to our neighbor(s).

    March 27, 2009 | 10:02 pm

I have given away vegetables and fruits to people in need in the past and I’m sure we’ll be doing that again this year. I should have a better harvest this year, because my hubby is well. Last summer he had to have surgery for a kidney tumor and well I didn’t pamper my garden as well, because I was taking care of him after his surgery. We still had some to give away, but not as much. My garden is going to be twice as big as last year’s, so I should have more to give away. I like Miracle Grow so I’d love to win this. Good luck everyone. Let’s all do our part as able to help those in need.
I’m a true believer in what goes around comes around, so maybe someone will do you some form of good deed in the future in return.

I love to garden! This would be a fun win for our family as I could let my 4 year old have his own vegetable garden in his very own planter box.

I love this giveaway, primarily because it made me aware of Scott’s commitment to our communities. I had no idea that Scott’s was going to give over 1 million pounds of fresh produce to food banks before seeing it here! That figure is incredible. I have always felt good about buying Scott’s products (I will only buy Miracle Gro!) because of the exceptional quality of the materials. Now, I will feel even better knowing that I am supporting a company that is giving back! That is awesome.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

I have started some tomatoes, hot peppers, and watermelons inside, and am very impatient to get them in the ground, but it’s still unseasonably cold here at nights. This looks like a great prize that anyone who gardens would really like to have, and I hope I’m chosen as a winner!

We are planting a vegetable garden this year, this is a necessity in these economic times and also with all the problems cropping up from the big industrial growers, it is much safer to grow and eat your own yield.

My whole family is getting into gardening this year. We just had our last freeze (hopefully) and have borrowed a tiller and are trying to get it running. I don’t know about anyone else, but we live in the country, and we ALWAYS share our produce with our neighbors. That’s just the way it’s always been, especially if you have a bountiful harvest! Here’s hoping we win this and end up with many more veggies than we can use!!!

This is a wonderful idea. Both my parents volunteer at the local food bank. Since they have retired they volunteer even more. If everyone who had a garden would plant just 2 extra rows just think of the people this would feed~! I plan on growing a half row of cucumbers , half row of peppers, half row of tomatoes, half row of lettuce and by doing this and donating it to the food bank they will have a ready made salad. I wish everyone would do this. Thanks for Sharing & for Caring

I am a subscriber. I love this giveaway. I really do applaud Scotts for caring about those who go to bed hungry at night as we have such a great country, no one should ever go hungry. Every year we plant a big garden as a family and this year we are going to be planting one as a neighborhood. We will all take care of it and also share in the fresh vegetables when they come up. This will help all of us with such a hard economy and most of all bring us all even closer.

I’m currently growing artichokes, tomatos, and edamame. They’re just getting started, but the raccoons are determined to kill my edamame beans. I’ve replanted twice! Would love to win this basket, too bad you didn’t include some kind of raccoon repellent! hehe. Thanks for the chance to win!
