Tom’s of Maine – Dental Health For All

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month so what better time to review proper dental care with our kids and to make sure we’ve scheduled their dental check-ups! But, did you know that, according to the U.S. Surgeon General, 120 million Americans lack dental care…and that includes children!

Dental care can become quite costly and, for those who can’t afford it, it is usually the first thing people cut from their budgets. This is something that has become evident in our current economy. But cutting proper dental care from your family’s list of priorities can also become quite dangerous, even in the littlest of mouths!

Tom’s of Maine is committed to bringing dental care to those who need it and they are doing so through their Dental Health For All program. This program supports community organizations that provide dental care to those people who cannot afford it. This month Tom’s of Maine will be awarding dental clinics across the country grants for oral health projects that are making a difference in people’s lives.

In the past few years the Dental Health For All program has:

  • Provided grants to 25 school- and community-based dental clinics to increase patient capacity and improve or expand their patient services
  • Provided over 238,000 tubes of free toothpaste to underserved children and adults

The best way to ensure good dental health in your children is to start at home. Of course kids learn by observing. Demonstrate to your children how to properly take care of your teeth. Here is a great quiz to test your dental health knowledge and, trust me, you’ll be surprised at some of the answers!

Tom’s also wants to make this fun for your kids with a free coloring book!

The coloring book not only teaches your children about good oral health but the importance of taking care of our environment. Tom’s of Maine is also committed to the environment and providing you with the best natural products. Their products are free from artificial ingredients, never tested on animals, and all product packaging is recyclable!

    Unfortunatly I am one of those 120 million families. My 6 year old was just at the dentist today for some dental work (not orthodontics)and it cost us $450.00 … yes $450.00 … OUCH!!! We are now having to do some “creative finances” (paying a different payment 2 weeks late)in order for her to recieve her dental work… and we may be eating mac & cheese for the next month, but it was necessary.

    The real kicker is that IF we had dental insurance my insurance would not have had to pay the ammount that I just paid… The uninsured are charged at a higher rate… basically I just subsadized someone elses insurance paid visit with my daughters visit…. NICE huh?

    I’d love to win the Tom’s of Maine prize pack. Good teeth are NOT part of my DNA so I’ve been battling cavities all my life. Most toothpastes are very hard to take first thing in the morning (sharp peppermint flavor) but Tom’s has a relatively mild taste that I don’t mind waking up to. Thanks for the giveaway!

    I have had problems with sensitive teeth. I switched to this brand of toothpaste (speriment my favorite flavor) & I don’t no longer have sensitive teeth issues. I plan on sticking with my favorite flavor & brand, Tom’s of Maine! I’d love to try the other products.
